To be eligible, you must fulfill all five (5) requirements below:
- Be a US-based company.
- Be in operation for at least two years.
- Have ten or more employees.
- Green energy, products, or services must make up 51% or more of the total company revenue.
- You must be able to categorize your company as either green product, green energy, or green service focused. See definitions below.
We are looking for those characteristics that make your product, energy, or service green. Questions that will help us determine your green contribution may include, but are not limited to:
Green products
- What eco-friendly resources are used in production?
- Is the product recyclable?
- What is the environmental impact for use and disposal of the product?
- Is renewable energy or green energy used in production?
- Is less energy used compared to your non-green counterpart?
- What type and how much packaging is used?
- Is the product organic or made from organic materials?
- Do you use sustainable farming practices and/or sell your products locally?
Green Energy
- Do you produce a type of energy such as wind, solar, or some other eco-friendly alternative?
- Do you develop fuel sources such as vegetable oil, hydrogen, cold fusion, or some other eco-friendly alternative?
Green services
- Do you build or consult in the development of LEED certified buildings?
- Do you specialize in eco travel and/or eco-friendly activities?
- Do you process, recycle, or repurpose materials that would otherwise go to waste?
- Do you offer or specialize in green consulting services?
- Do you perform green auditing for LEED, agriculture, energy, or other industry that requires auditing?
If you believe you qualify as a green company but do not fit any of the categories above, you should still apply. Just put the category that fits you best and provide a brief explanation when you fill out your application.
